Bill of Materials

Before anything can be manufactured, you need to design it. This means a list of component parts is needed, along with various drawings and documents.

In Starjar a part can have a single current Bill of Materials which details the components needed to make it. When new a Bill of Materials is approved the old approved Bill of Materials is marked obsolete.

Over time Bill of Materials evolve: some parts are added, others replaced and common sub assemblies emerge.

Work Orders

Once a part has an approve Bill of Materials, it can be scheduled for production by creating a Work Order. Work Orders create demand for the consumed parts and supply of the produced part.
